comedy

i went out to see some comedy last night at the smallest venue ever (rearview mirror in kensington market). it's called the 'short notice show' and it was the 1 year anniversary. i didn't take any notes on the show or anything, mostly because when i arrived i was greeted with a special cookie as a gift from the hosts of the show - how nice of them!
the show ran from about 9pm until about 11:30 and was a barrel of laughs. it's great to get out and do some laughing. if you or anyone you know likes intimate comedy shows and/or laughing, check this show out. it's on every month on the first thursday at the rearview mirror in kensignton market.

also speaking about laughing, it was my co-workers birthday yesterday and the people i work with thought it would be a real gas to write this message for him as a special birthday keepsake. (it's a joke of course)

my turntable wants

happy tuesday.

i've been on the hunt for this bad boy for about a year, maybe longer. i check the M and J section of any record store i go into. i have only come across a repress and a scratched original for $15 that I probably should have picked up for the listenable tracks, but i'm determined to find this damn thing in good shape - original press of course.

additionally, i'd love to get my hands on this too. the mp3s are sufficing for now, but i'm also on the hunt for this one.

also, i bumped into marie louise parker last night at the movie theatre and was really star-stuck. she was wearing black uggs.

if you like folk and/or mono recordings you should find this and listen to it. i think it's really good.

you can stream it online on the cbc website, or others i'm sure. for a little taste, check out this link:

no more plastic?

I have decided it would be a really great idea to attempt a plastic free life. Its probably going to be impossible considering plastic is everywhere, but I know I can make a few steps in the right direction so that I reduce my carbon footprint. I recently attended the Green Living Show in Toronto, and discovered a lot of really great ways to substitute the amount of plastic in my life for biodegradable options. For example, garbage bags:
I bought some bags similar to this, and they are oxy-biodegradable, which means it takes 5 years to start breaking down - as opposed to the indestructible lifetime of regular plastic bags.
I also purchased some wooden cutlery to take with me on the go for when i get takeout.

It's a good start, that's for sure. Now I just have to remember to bring my own existing tupperware container or with me where ever I go, or bring something not styrofoam or plastic.
The idea is to not purchase any new plastic or bring any new plastic into my possession, as best i can.

nyc

basically i want to live in nyc - i love that place. it was my second time to nyc, first time to soho, greenwich, upper east side and a chance to really explore central park. i'm posting some of my photos from my journey that i took with my sister. i seldom get to see her often, so its really nice when we can have a chance to get together and have some fun.

bitch in the car

I am ready to fight this stupid biotch. I was having a pleasant bike ride home from the gym just now (along dundas near bahurst) and there is a strip of road that is totally torn up and impossible to ride on, so i was sticking out a bit into the road, but not into the 2nd lane, still in the lane closest to the sidewalk.
anyway, this lady sticks her head out her car window (passenger seat) and begins yelling at me "MOVE OVER MAN, MOVE OVER!!" and im like, "wtf, seriously? like I CAN."

ugh, i hated her.

photos

I got my hands on my step-dads old Canon AE-1 ALR camera from the 70s, and took some photos. The film I used was expired by 4 years, but the pictures still turned out alright. I have a lot of learning to do when it comes to the analog methods of things because I have grown so accustomed to digital.. but i look forward to learning!
anyway, here are some goldies from the roll.

raccoon invasion pt.ii!

so the little beast returned!

i thought raccoons only came out at night? this is the first time i have seen a raccoon out in the middle of the day, and he wasn't phased by ryan and i standing there either.

he's pretty cute.

I plan to record him any time i see him from now on... so keep posted!

raccoon invasion!

so, recently i have been hearing very loud sounds on my roof, and i was scared I had rats or something horrible in my walls. So my landlord came over and assured me it was only squirrels.
after closer inspection though.. i found what was making all the noise. check him out...

good intentions

I made this short hand drawn animation for one of my classes this semester. I really enjoyed making it. It was a lot of work, but I'm happy with the final result.
